Share the Mandate for Leadership with those who need it most

First published in January 1981, The Heritage Foundation’s Mandate for Leadership served as a conservative plan of action for the Reagan Administration. By the end of Reagan’s first year, he had implemented nearly half of its ideas.

Since 1981, Heritage has published five editions. The 2016 edition of Mandate for Leadership earned lots of attention from the current Administration, which embraced 64 percent of its policy solutions in 2017 alone—from tax reform and deregulation to changes in the Affordable Care Act. We hope future administrations will embrace them as well.

When writing the 2020 Mandate, our policy experts look at how policies will affect the economy, the family, our nation’s physical and financial security, and—most importantly—our future as a people.

Obviously there is a lot more work to do. Our nation is in a moment of crisis, squeezed between economic breakdown and social crisis. If America ever needed strong conservative policies to guide it towards freedom and prosperity again—now is the time. Heritage has the tools. Now we need to put those tools into the right hands.
